Model Answer 1:

Introduction:
Doing something with a group of people can be a lot of fun. Whether it’s a project, a task, or an activity, working together can be a rewarding experience. It can also be a great way to build relationships, learn new skills, and positively impact the people around you.

What it was?
Recently, I was part of a group of friends who decided to take on a project together. We decided to build a treehouse in my backyard. Although I had some experience in carpentry and construction, it was a big undertaking for all of us.

We spent a lot of time planning and gathering materials, as well as researching what we needed to do to make the treehouse safe and secure.

We worked together to cut the lumber, assemble the walls and roof, and paint the treehouse. It was a lot of work but also a lot of fun.

Who you did it with?
I was joined by five of my closest friends. We all had different skills and strengths, and it was great to combine them to make something amazing. We had a lot of laughs while we worked; it was a great way to bond and build relationships.

How long it took you to do this?
The project took us about two months to complete. We worked on it in our spare time, usually on the weekends, but it was still a big commitment. We had to be organized and plan our work carefully to ensure we finished within the set timeframe.

And explain why you did it together?
We decided to work together on the project for a few reasons. Firstly, it was a great way to spend time together and get to know each other better.

Secondly, it was a great learning experience. We all learned new skills and knowledge that we wouldn’t have been able to acquire on our own.

Finally, it was a great feeling of accomplishment to see the finished product and know that we had all worked together to create something amazing.

Conclusion:
Doing something with a group of people can be a lot of fun and a great way to build relationships and learn new skills. I’m glad I had the opportunity to work with my friends and create something we can all be proud of.

IELTS Speaking Part 3 : Follow up Questions

Here some examples of follow up questions that you may asked during your speaking part 3 by examiner related to cue card “describe something that you did with someone/ a group of people”.

1. How do you get along with your neighbors?
I have a very good relationship with my neighbors as I have known them for more than 10 years now. It almost feels like they are part of our family now, as we spend a lot of time at each other’s place. We support each other during both good and bad times. Sometimes I think our neighbors play a more important role in our lives than our relatives.

2. How do neighbors help each other?
Neighbors can help each other in various ways, such as by lending tools or household items, watching each other’s homes when one is away, assisting with household repairs or projects, offering to take care of pets or children, and sharing gardening or cooking tips. They may also look out for one another’s safety and well-being, and provide emotional support during difficult times. Additionally, neighbors may work together to improve the community through volunteerism or organizing neighborhood events.

3. Do you think neighbors help each other more often in the countryside than in the city?
Neighbors may help each other more often in rural or suburban areas compared to urban areas. The reason is that in rural or suburban areas, neighbors may have a greater sense of community, be more likely to know each other personally, and therefore be more likely to offer help when needed. Additionally, in rural and suburban areas, people may have more opportunities to interact with each other, such as while working on shared projects or participating in community events.

4. How do children learn to cooperate?
Children learn to cooperate through a combination of socialization, modeling, and direct teaching. For example, they can learn cooperation by playing with other children, as they learn to share toys, take turns, and work together to achieve a common goal.

5. Do parents think parents should teach children to cooperate with others? How?
Yes, parents play a vital role in teaching children how to cooperate with others. Cooperation is an important life skill that is needed in a wide variety of contexts, such as in the family, at school, in the workplace, and in the community. Children learn by example, so when parents demonstrate cooperation and collaboration in their relationships and daily activities, they will learn how to do the same. Parents can also provide opportunities for children to practice cooperation by setting up games and activities that require teamwork. Additionally, parents can teach children the importance of listening to others’ ideas and opinions, compromising, and taking turns.

6. Do you think it’s important for children to learn about cooperation?
Yes, children need to learn about cooperation. Cooperation is a key social skill essential for success in many aspects of life. Children who learn to cooperate with others are more likely to develop a positive relationship and achieve academic success.
