IELTS Speaking Part 2: IELTS Cue Card/ Candidate Task Card.
Describe one time when the weather changed your plan.
You should say: When this happened? Where you were? What kind of weather it was? Explain why you couldn’t finish the thing? What you did at the end?
Note: You will have to talk about the topic for one to two minutes. You have one minute to think about what you are going to say. You can make some notes to help you if you wish.
Model answer 1 :
Introduction : Well, I am quite an organized person, and I like to meet elaborated plans in the daily schedule, but there are times when things do not always go as per plan.
When this happened? and Where you were? I want to talk about one incident which happened last summer when I was traveling with my family from Manali to our hometown Ludhiana.
We almost completed our holiday safely and happily there, but on the day when we were about to start our journey back home, it started raining, and that was such heavy rain that it blocked almost all the roads.
We left our resort by that time, and when we were about to reach on the highway, someone told us that the road ahead is blocked and you cannot go ahead, we got terrified because we have kids with us and we thought that we had left the resort also what would we do if we cannot travel by, we cannot spend time in a car.
What kind of weather it was? We waited for half an hour to get the road clear, but then the people told us that the roads are blocked, and you cannot go further.
Hence, we immediately call the resort and explained them everything and ask that whether any rooms are vacant or not they said that they have a full reservation so then we requested them that we have kids with us, please give us a room we would adjust in a room and then they have been generous.
They gave us a room, and we spent that night in one room, we were total one people, but we adjust somehow because that was such an unpleasant happening happened because of the heavy rain.
Explain why you couldn’t finish the thing? So that was the time when our plan got canceled because of heavy rain as we planned to get back home by the end of the summer holiday but because of the rainy season.
What you did at the end? We got late for two days, and even kids have to miss their school for two days, but when we reached home, we had a sigh of relief, and we decided that whenever we plan to go anywhere from now on, we will check the weather forecast first and then plan our holiday.

Introduction : Here, I would like to talk about a time when I had to change the plan of visiting Manali Manali is a high-altitude resort town in the state of Himachal Pradesh.
The weather of Manali is mostly pleasant and soothing during summers and extreme cold during the winter. The monsoons are enjoyable though the heavy rainfall damages the roads and causes landslides.
When this happened? and Where you were? and What kind of weather it was? Last month, I decided to go to Manali with my friends because of the chilled weather. On the third January, we made the plan to go to Manali through a public Bus.
We were eight friends and took the bus in the morning from Chandigarh. In the morning, we checked the weather to be on the safe side, and it showed pleasant weather to travel.
Explain why you couldn’t finish the thing? Everything was going great, and we were enjoying our road trip. Suddenly, the bus stopped. After some time, the Conductor told us that it was due to traffic jams and it will take some time I was enjoying my friends’ company But after one hour the Conductor informed us that the bus would not go further due to landslides.
Every person in the bus was annoyed by this sudden change of events Due to traffic, the road was blocked, and after four hours of struggle, we started our return journey. We opened our boxes of lunch to relax our minds. At night, we reached in Chandigarh.
What you did at the end? Then, we all decided to end this trip on a happy note. So. we went to our favorite restaurant to have dinner where every night there are live music performances by singers. We had a great time together.
Conclusion: From this, I learned that we could enjoy it everywhere if we have best friends, and no one can predict the weather.

Introduction :
It had not happened very frequently when the weather changed my plan.
When this happened?
But I remember a time when my buddies and I had planned to go to a museum, Pushpa Gujral Science City, close to my hometown, where we could not go because of heavy rain.
This past year, during our summer holiday, we proposed to go to this museum.
This museum is at a distance of one hour from my hometown.
Where you were?
As I live close to the bus stand, my buddies had to assemble at my house, and then we had to visit the bus stand and catch a bus to the museum.
What kind of weather it was?
It had been cloudy, and we can anticipate that it would rain, but we never believed it could be bad.
Just as we were about to leave, it started raining heavily.
Explain why you couldn’t finish the thing?
We thought we would wait for some time for the rain to slow down, and then we would go.
However, it started raining cats and dogs, and the rain moved on for five hours in a stretch.
My mother made a nice lunch and many snacks for us, and we played the carom board.
Conclusion:
Although we could not go to the memorial, we all had an enjoyable time together. Even after the rain ceased, there was a lot of water logging on the roads, and my friends couldn’t go home till late evening.
So that has been a day Once the weather changed our plans.

5. Does weather affect your disposition? When it’s too hot, I feel really uncomfortable, and once it is too cold, I feel lethargic.
