Model Answers and follow up questions to describe an expensive activity that you enjoy doing occasionally IELTS cue card:

Model Answer 1:

Introduction:
Well, we all want to enjoy or experience expensive activities, but most people’s financial condition does not allow them to relish such activities frequently.

What is it? and Who do you do it with?
I would like to talk here about an expensive activity that I enjoy once in a while.

Actually, I have a group of friends, and we all love Arcade games, and once in a month, we go for playing at a gaming parlour. Actually, there is a shopping mall in my city where there is a gaming parlour by the name Adventure Zone and here all type of games are available like video games, slot machines billiards and bowling.

Why is it expensive?
It is quite an expensive place to visit. Since one has to buy a Card with 1000rs credit to enter the gaming zone and then swipe the card and pay according to your choice games. We all friends love playing bowling and have a kind of competition there.

In fact, it is also the most expensive game here. Then we also play some video games and billiard too as it is my favourite. We generally visit this place in the first week of every month when we get our pocket allowance, and here we spend a lion share of it.

Explain how you feel about it?
We really enjoy the loud music, buzz and dancing Laser beams. Usually, after playing here for hours, we get hungry and tired. So we hit the KFC restaurant in this mall which is our Favorite and eat to the fullest.

This way we spend handsomely around Rs. 1500 on this activity which is quite expensive for me.

Conclusion:
But it is always worth it as it me get mentally relaxed and have fun with my friends.

Model Answer 2:

Introduction
I do many things in my free time, including playing games (indoor and outdoor), watching reality shows on TV and listen to music. My hobbies are quite economical, excluding one, and that is, driving a supercar (Ferrari or Audi) around the town.

What is it?
Occasionally, I like to drive a super car around the town. I do it three times in a year because the charges of super car are 5000 to 10000 per hour. I hire a different car every time to get a new experience.

Who do you do it with?
Generally, I go on the drive alone, but sometimes my friend gives the company to me. I clicked a lot of pictures in and outside the car and posted these pictures on the social sites.

Why is it expensive?
The actual price of the super car is about one core, so that’s why they charge rent in thousands.

Explain how you feel about it?
I love driving, and I want to experience luxury cars. I feel thrilled and satisfied. I do lots of things whenever someone gives a company to me. That’s I eagerly wait for it.

Model Answer 3:

Introduction

  • My main hobbies include streaming movies, reading novels and listening to music.
  • So, most of the hobbies are actually quite economical.

What is it?

  • But occasionally I like to go for river-rafting at Rishikesh.

Who do you do it with?

  • I generally go there with my friends and cousins.

Why is it expensive?

  • Unlike my other hobbies, it is rather expensive as the trip costs about Rs 30,000.
  • First, travelling costs amount to about Rs 5000.
  • Then, there is accommodation and food cost, which is about the same.
  • The rest of it is the river rafting charges.
  • I started doing river rafting about three years.
  • One of my friends experienced it, and he couldn’t stop talking about it.
  • So, during summer vacations that year, three of my friend and I went for river rafting.

And explain how you feel about it?

  • I love the river rafting experience for several reasons. But I think the most important reason is that it is thrilling and exciting.
  • It gets my blood pumping, and I feel so alive when I do it.
  • I don’t know swimming, and I think that adds to the feeling of danger.
  • Another reason why I love river rafting is not about river rafting but rather that the fact that I get to spend time with friends.
  • The whole experience takes us about two days and one night.
  • During this time, we talk, play games, pull pranks on each and enjoy delicious meals together.
  • We have so much fun that time passes away very quickly.
  • That’s why I think we have made it a yearly tradition, which we eagerly wait for.
  • If it were cheaper, we would have done it more often, but then it would have reduced its charm as well.

I think it varies from person to person, but generally, expensive things people buy involve clothes, technological gadgets like mobile phones and cars and motorcycles. The most expensive product that I own is an Apple computer.

2. What the difference between men and women in buying things?
I don’t think there is a major difference today. However, men sometimes make extravagant purchases like a costly watch or a mobile phone. Women, I think make purchases after careful consideration.

3. What are the advantages and disadvantages of being rich?
I think the biggest advantage of being rich is that you can prioritize your health and fitness over anything else, while poor people sometimes have to sacrifice their health for money. The biggest disadvantage of being rich is that people are always ready to fleece you. People don’t feel guilty about cheating a rich person.

4. Why are some of the sports expensive? Are they for everyone?
Some of the sports, especially adventure sports, are expensive because they require licenses, trained professionals and expensive safety equipment. No, I don’t think everyone can afford them. Also, they are not for the faint of heart because of the risk involved.
