示例答案

Recently, I had to buy a new phone because my old one suddenly broke down. I initially planned to purchase a reasonably priced model, but in the end, I spent much more than I had expected.

What it is?

The item I bought was an Apple iPhone. Previously, I was using a Samsung phone, which had been working fine for almost three years before it stopped functioning properly.

How much did you spend on it?

The iPhone cost me around 70,000 rupees, which was significantly higher than my original budget. I had planned to spend much less, but I ended up choosing this premium model.

Why you bought it?

I think I was influenced by the brand name and the positive reviews from my friends. Almost all of them said that Apple products are far superior in quality compared to other brands. I was also curious to experience an iPhone for myself since I had never owned one before. After buying it, I did notice that the camera quality was excellent, the performance was smooth, and the design looked very elegant.

And explain why you think you spent more than expected?

Deep down, I realized that I didn’t actually need such an expensive phone. I am not a heavy mobile user. I mostly use my phone for calls, checking WhatsApp messages, ordering food through apps like Zomato, and booking rides on Uber. I rarely take photos, and even if I do, I don’t really need a high-resolution camera. Moreover, I was comparing a brand-new iPhone with my three-year-old Samsung phone, which was not a fair comparison.

Because I spent so much on the phone, I had to postpone buying a new laptop, which I urgently need. My current laptop is about six years old and sometimes takes nearly half an hour to start. In hindsight, investing in a new laptop would have been far more practical. I believe I bought the iPhone more out of impulse and social influence rather than genuine need.

Conclusion

Overall, although I do enjoy using my iPhone, I regret spending so much money on it. This experience taught me the importance of making practical financial decisions instead of emotional ones.

后续问题 (第3部分)

Do you often buy more than you expected?

Sometimes I do, but usually it happens with small items like clothes or groceries, especially when there are discounts or special offers. However, buying the iPhone was the first time I spent such a large amount beyond my original plan.

What do you think young people spend most of their money on?

I think young people mainly spend money on fashion items such as clothes, shoes, and accessories. Gadgets like mobile phones, laptops, and headphones are also very popular among the younger generation.

Do you think it is important to save money? Why?

Yes, saving money is extremely important because the future is uncertain. Situations like medical emergencies or economic crises can arise unexpectedly. Having savings provides financial security and peace of mind.

Do people buy things that they don’t need?

Yes, very often. Many people buy things for temporary happiness or due to attractive marketing. For example, someone might buy a tool like an electric drill and use it only once, after which it remains unused for years.
