Sample Answer
The given maps depict changes made to an Australian beachfront area between 1950 and the present day. The illustrations highlight developments in leisure infrastructure and transportation while preserving certain original elements like the beach and lighthouse.
Overall, the area has become more modernized with enhanced access, expanded facilities, and new structures added to support tourism and recreation. Key additions include surf clubs, a restaurant, a larger pool, and additional parking.
In 1950, the beachfront had a short road ending at a small car park, a lighthouse, a 25-meter pool, a children’s playground, a pavilion, and dining tables. In the present day, the road has been extended to reach the lighthouse and a new surf club located beside it. The car park has also been expanded.
Closer to the beach, the original 25-meter pool has been enlarged to 50 meters. A second surf club and a restaurant have been constructed to the left of the beach. The children’s playground has been replaced by a second car park, while the pavilion and dining area remain unchanged.
