Câu trả lời mẫu

I would like to talk about a time when I decided to change my career path with the guidance and support of my family and a close mentor, and how that decision shaped my professional life.

What the decision was?

The decision was to pursue a career in software development instead of mechanical engineering, which I had initially studied at university. Although I enjoyed engineering concepts, I realized that my real interest lay in coding and creating applications.

When it was?

This happened about three years ago, just after I completed my bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. At that time, I was confused about whether to accept a stable engineering job or to take a risk and move into the IT field, which required additional training.

Who helped you?

The people who helped me most were my parents and my college professor, Mr. Sharma. My parents patiently listened to my concerns and reassured me that it was okay to follow a different path if it made me happy. Mr. Sharma, who had noticed my interest in programming during college projects, gave me practical advice. He explained the opportunities in software development, suggested online courses, and even shared his own experience of switching fields early in his career.

Why their help was important?

Their guidance was crucial because I was dealing with fear and uncertainty. My parents gave me emotional support and financial security so I could enroll in a six-month coding bootcamp without worrying about immediate income.

Mr. Sharma provided professional insight, helping me understand that my engineering background would still be valuable in the tech industry. Their combined advice gave me the confidence to take the leap.

Conclusion

Looking back, I feel grateful that I didn’t make this decision alone. With their help, I successfully transitioned into software development, and now I work as a full-stack developer. This experience taught me that seeking advice from people you trust can turn a stressful choice into a well-planned step forward

Câu hỏi theo sau (Phần 3)

Why do people sometimes need help to make important decisions?

Important decisions often involve uncertainty, and it’s hard to see every angle on our own. Other people can provide different perspectives, share their experiences, and point out potential risks we might overlook. Emotional support also plays a big role; knowing that someone believes in you can reduce stress and help you stay confident.

What kinds of decisions do young people usually need help with?

Young people often need guidance on education, career choices, and major life changes such as moving to a new city or starting a business. These decisions can shape their future, but because they have limited life experience, advice from parents, teachers, or mentors helps them avoid mistakes and plan realistically.

Do you think it’s better to get advice from family or from friends?

It depends on the situation. Family members usually know us deeply and want the best for us, which is helpful for emotional or long-term decisions. Friends, on the other hand, may have a more contemporary outlook and can share honest opinions without the same emotional bias. Ideally, combining advice from both gives a balanced view.

How has technology changed the way people seek advice?

Technology has made advice more accessible. People can watch career webinars, join online forums, or connect with mentors across the world through video calls. However, while online information is helpful, it can be overwhelming or unreliable, so personal guidance from someone we trust is still very important.

Is it always good to follow other people’s advice?

Not necessarily. Advice should be considered carefully, but the final decision should reflect our own values and goals. Blindly following someone else can lead to regret if the outcome doesn’t match our personal aspirations. The best approach is to listen, evaluate, and then make a choice we feel confident about.
