Câu trả lời mẫu

I would like to talk about a time when I successfully completed a public speaking competition, which was very challenging for me.

What it was?

This happened during my second year of college. Our university organized an inter-college debate competition, and my professor encouraged me to participate. Until then, I had never spoken in front of a large audience, so the idea itself was frightening.

How you overcame the difficulties?

At first, I struggled with nervousness and stage fright. Speaking fluently in English in front of experienced judges and hundreds of students felt almost impossible. To overcome this, I practiced regularly in front of a mirror, recorded my speeches, and worked on my pronunciation.

I also watched videos of professional speakers to learn how they used gestures and pauses. The biggest challenge was controlling my anxiety, so I practiced breathing exercises to stay calm.

Whether you got help?

Yes, definitely. One of my close friends helped me prepare by listening to my speeches and giving honest feedback. My professor also guided me on structuring arguments logically. Their encouragement boosted my confidence, and I felt more prepared as the event approached.

How you felt after you succeeded?

On the day of the competition, I was nervous at first, but once I started speaking, I gained momentum. To my surprise, I performed really well and even secured second place.

I felt an incredible sense of relief and pride because I had pushed myself outside my comfort zone. That moment taught me that challenges can be opportunities in disguise. Since then, I have become more confident in public speaking and even volunteered to host events at my college.

Conclusion

Overall, this experience was one of the most difficult yet rewarding things I have done. It proved that with determination, practice, and the right support, even the toughest challenges can be turned into achievements.

Câu hỏi theo sau (Phần 3)

Do you think people need to face difficulties to achieve success?

Yes, absolutely. Difficulties push people to grow and discover their hidden strengths. For example, when students face tough exams, they are forced to study harder and develop discipline. Without challenges, life would be too easy and people wouldn’t feel a sense of accomplishment. In my view, success tastes sweeter when it comes after hard work and overcoming obstacles.

What kinds of difficult situations do people usually face in life?

People face different kinds of difficulties depending on their stage of life. Students often struggle with exams, peer pressure, and career choices. Working professionals face challenges like meeting deadlines, adapting to new technology, or maintaining work-life balance. On a personal level, people may deal with health issues or financial problems. Each difficulty tests patience and resilience in a different way.

Do you think young people should be encouraged to do difficult things?

Yes, definitely. When young people face challenges, they develop problem-solving skills, confidence, and independence. For example, if teenagers learn to manage their own finances or take part in competitions, they gain real-world experience. Of course, the difficulties should be age-appropriate, but guiding them through tough situations makes them stronger and better prepared for adult life.

How do people usually react when they fail after doing something difficult?

It depends on the individual. Some people feel discouraged and give up quickly, while others see failure as a learning opportunity. For instance, athletes often fail in the beginning but use those failures to improve their skills. Personally, I believe failure is not the opposite of success but part of the journey toward it. The key is to reflect on mistakes and keep trying until success comes.
