Question Overview

Topic : Tourism
Type : Opinion

Model Answer:

It is undeniable that tourist spots in every nation have become more popular and have so many visitors. The growth of tourism has numerous benefits, such as additional income from visitors and exposure to civilization, even though this development’s downsides cannot be ignored. This informative article discusses the downsides of tourism for these states, followed by relevant examples. I agree that the disadvantages of tourism should be dealt with prudently to lessen its adverse impacts on a country.

Firstly, tourism activities can threaten the traditional culture of a country. Local men and women are inclined to imitate the civilizations brought on by the tourists from their home countries. According to cultural research conducted in Indonesia this past year, local individuals said that their traditional cultures are not suitable to the modern age, whereas the cultures brought by tourists into their country tend to be more suitable and modern. For example, more local folks like wearing modern clothing than traditional ones, and they follow more modern dances than conventional ones.

Secondly, tourism may have the harmful effect on the surroundings. Take littering cases as an example. It’s an irrefutable fact that all these tourists ignore the coverage of rubbish. Bali as a tourism destination, aside from getting awards because of the prosperous tourism, this town is famous for the garbage. The government confronts the problem in tackling this littering difficulty because of the rising number of tourists every year. Then, the regional men and women affect their surroundings, such as property pollution, flooding, and air pollution due to waste.

On the other hand, tourism may raise the national government income from tourists’ visa and local people get the work-field as well as the chance to learn other cultures. For instance, local people can build home remain area for tourist and earn income from that organization. It can lessen the number of unemployment individuals and develop knowledge of local folks about tourists’ terminology.

According to the previous explanation, we can conclude that tourism will be the danger for local cultures and surroundings, although it is suitable for gaining income for government and local individuals and creating an opportunity for local people to have knowledge and job.
