It’s frequently implied that disciples of tertiary institutions need to have a wide range of subjects in their program instead of a few particular topics. I, however, can’t entirely agree with this perspective primarily for two big reasons.
First, universities aim to give specialized knowledge for their pupils, not boost their overall experience. Pupils are offered admission to universities after they complete several years of academic research on several subjects. They’re in a tertiary institution mostly to acquire specific knowledge associated with their field of interest. Giving unnecessary strain by imposing topics unrelated to their domain can turn into a hurdle in achieving the required target sets in their lifetime. As an example, there is little relationship between sociology and math. Mathematics majors will get confused while studying various areas of sociology, and similarly, sociology pupils will be hesitant to address complicated mathematics.
Besides this, many universities are already trying hard to keep their established status, and some are supplying only specializations in a few areas. The addition of more subjects in each college will include unnecessary weight, and as a result, there will be discordant opinions and activities among them. For instance,’Indian Institute of Technology Delhi’ is one of the top universities in India and provides specialization in scientific research and technology. If they’re made to add Arts associated subjects for their science majors, they will find themselves struggling for their excellence.
In summary, universities are meant for specialization, and students should study topics linked to their major or they believe interested in. The urge to incorporating a range of inappropriate topics will detriment the legitimate purpose of university education.
