Traditionally people get married to a person of the same culture, faith and country and sometimes they are so inclined to their customs they cannot even imagine of getting married to someone who has a different cast and societal status. Marriage brings two persons jointly and forms a family and with all the moment, marrying in another culture (mixed marriage as they call it) has become common and socially approved. Technological advances, changes in societal belief, and freedom for choosing a lifetime partner among youthful have hastened this tendency, and many of these cross-cultural unions are functioning too well.

To begin with, people have technology in their hands and make friends across the border. An increasing amount of people nowadays go to research in a foreign country and live in a subtropical atmosphere. It has broken up their obsolete societal notion to an incredible extent, and they have a more comprehensive view of marriage and life. Additionally, young individuals have greater liberty in choosing their life partners, unlike the past, when parents mostly have chosen a bride or bridegroom for somebody. Society in the majority of the countries seems like have accepted this freedom and welcome union past the known border.

The cross-cultural union has many added benefits. Individuals have different intrinsic features and strength according to their own culture, race, geographic location and family and it is frequently noticed that children of such cross-cultural couples are more powerful and have diverse capabilities. Two people from completely different cultures, when get married, remember to comprehend each other and that often strengthens their conjugal relationship. They know about other’s tradition, culture, belief, speech and this opens up a new world to them. Such union often teaches individuals to become more tolerant of other races, custom and culture, and it often helps people to discover themselves by a neutral viewpoint instead of the biased perspective of inherent culture and tradition.

This kind of marriage has some disadvantages also. Family, relatives and friends often have misconceptions of these couples and keep their distance. Mixed marriages often force people to accept an alien way of life they cannot completely manage. Children in these families frequently find it tough to stick to a particular culture and wind up adopting a pseudo-cultural identity. In the end, such union frequently ends in the bitter encounter as couples do not understand each other correctly.
