You should spend about 40 minutes on IELTS writing task 2.
Fossil fuel, such as coal, oil and natural gas, is extensively used in many countries which cause harms to the environment. The use of alternative sources of energy, including wind and solar power, however, is being encouraged in many countries.
Is this a positive or negative development?
Give specific reason and explain them with examples from your own experience or knowledge.

Model Answer
Fossil fuel, though broadly used, is not eco-friendly and its use comes with a huge price – the ecological degradation. Thinking about the global warming and climate change, along with the detrimental effects fossil fuels have on the environment and public health, green gas, for example solar, hydro and wind electricity, ought to be encouraged and maybe the answer to our future energy demand and environmental issues.
The requirement for fuels is rapidly increasing in many countries with people rise. It has also connected with the industrialisation also it seems just obvious that petroleum, coal and natural gas-rich countries would widely utilise them to take the leverage of their inventory of these energy resources. For instance, Russia has gas, China and India are all rich in coal, and also the USA and OPEC countries have a massive stockpile of petroleum. Besides, other developed nations that do not have an enormous stock of such gasoline import them from other nations in a considerably reasonable pace. On the other hand, the stock of fossil fuel is limited and would get exhausted at a specific point. So, alternative and green sources, which can be renewable, would be the primary source of our electricity in the future and we must get ready for the time when we will have no fresh oil or gasoline stock. Since green energy like wind and solar power are renewable, their use should be much encouraged as potential from right today, and it is a fantastic thing that the trend has already begun.
Alternative sources of power, such as solar and wind power, do not pollute the environment, have lower carbon monoxide and are eco-friendly. So their usage could save Earth from a disaster of global warming that’s already visible around us. Wind power and solar power have been in use in countries like Denmark, Germany and France and an increasing number of states are joining the listing. We already have an extremely efficient technology to make solar, and wind electricity and the tendency is quite reassuring.
The demand for electricity is growing at a quick speed, and the stock of fossil fuel is decreasing. We should turn to alternative green energy resources and discuss the technology and expertise with all nations, so the transition happens all over the globe to conserve our differently dying world due to climate change and greenhouse effects.
