Model Answers and follow up questions to describe a pet that you or someone you know once had IELTS cue card:

Model Answer:

Introduction:
Well, I have a great affection towards animals and I have kept a couple of pets but I would take this opportunity to talk about my favourite pet dog and I called him “Sam”.

What kind of pet it was? and when you had it?
I still remember when I was around 10 years old, I wanted to keep a dog and my father gifted me a small almost one-month-old puppy as a birthday gift.

It was a Labrador, my favorite breed of dog and it was black in color with a very shiny black coat, I used to take a lot of care of this small puppy and within no time he grew into a mature dog and we became great companions.

How was your experience of keeping that pet?
I often take him out for a walk in the morning as well as evening, In fact, in the evening we used to spend some time in the park playing games especially Frisbees, and to make sure that he does not pull any threat to anyone or spread diseases, I got him vaccinated.

Moreover, sam was also a very obedient and sensible dog because I got him trained. After training, he started to follow the commands of all the family members.

He became more like our family member and I still remember it was his third birthday when I brought a sleeping bed for him out of my pocket money.

I clicked many photographs at different points of times with Sam and I still have those memories with me.

Unfortunately, when he was 10 years old he had an accident while crossing the road and he died. It was more like a shock for all the family members and we still miss this dog.

As I said that I still have the memories in the form of photographs so whenever I miss him, I just check them and recall the wonderful time I spend with Sam.

Conclusion:
Overall, it was a fantastic pet that I ever had.
